Tummy Tuck

Loose or sagging abdominal wall skin is often associated with loosened abdominal wall muscles. The abdominal wall muscles loosen with pregnancy, age and prior surgery. A tummy tuck removes the sagging skin and tightens the muscles.

About The Procedure

The procedure lasts two to four hours and is performed under general anesthesia. After surgery is completed, you should expect temporary pain, swelling, and numbness in the area. Patients usually return to work in two weeks; strenuous activity is limited for four to six weeks or more. Fading and flattening of the scars takes three months to two years.

Risks of the Procedure

Risks include blood clots, infection, conspicuous scarring, or skin loss. Minor revisions may also be required. Dr. Ver Steeg will discuss the risks of the procedure with you at the time of your consultation.
