Dr. Ver Steeg completed a five year residency in General Surgery at Kansas University Medical Center, a busy university based inner city trauma center. He received extensive training in trauma surgery, cancer surgery, transplant surgery and minimally invasive surgery. He is board certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery.

Dr. Ver Steeg then completed an additional two years of training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at The University of Louisville. In Louisville, Dr. Ver Steeg trained with pioneers in the field of Plastic Surgery. The University of Louisville is a busy inner city trauma center and regional referral center. Dr. Ver Steeg learned from a high volume and variety of reconstructive challenges and became a skilled micro surgeon. While at the University of Louisville, Dr. Ver Steeg received training in hand surgery with the world renowned Kleinert, Kutz and Associates. He was present for the third successful hand transplant in the United States. Dr. Ver Steeg also received extensive training in cosmetic surgery.
